Max stood at the window with Dad, watching a round, fluffy cloud glow softly outside. "That cloud looks like it needs help," Dad said, and Max grinned. He loved a good bedtime adventure.
A tiny light blinked near the glass. It was Firefly, dancing in little circles. "Follow me," he seemed to say. The soft, glowing cloud floated through the window. It landed gently on the floor of the room, inviting them aboard.
He held Dad's hand as he stepped onto the soft, springy cloud.
The cloud opened into a cozy little space, and tiny dragons wriggled everywhere inside it. Their wings flapped and flopped, refusing to fold. "We can't sleep like this!" squeaked one small dragon, spinning in a circle.
Max knelt down beside the littlest dragon. He noticed its wings kept popping open like umbrellas. "Maybe they just need something soft to snuggle under," Max said thoughtfully.
Dad smiled and pointed upward. Threads of starlight shimmered above them, light as a feather. "Like a blanket," he said. "A blanket made of stars."
Max reached up gently and pulled down a soft strand of starlight. The little dragon folded its wings first, and then Max laid the light blanket over it. The little dragon curled into a little ball, happily snuggling underneath.
Max helped each dragon fold its wings and pulled a soft strand of starlight over each one. Firefly floated close, glowing softly, humming a quiet tune that made even the wiggliest dragon go still.
Soon all the baby dragons lay side by side, each one tucked under its own strand of starlight, their wings folded neatly beneath the twinkling light. The littlest one yawned and whispered, "Thank you," before closing its eyes.
The cloud floated gently back to the window, and Dad carried Max, who was already half asleep, to the soft bed nearby. Firefly followed, his light glowing low and cosy, settling on the windowsill to watch over Max.
Max snuggled into the blankets, warm and heavy-eyed. He thought about the little dragons, folded and cosy under their stars, and felt his eyelids grow heavy.
"Goodnight, Max," Dad whispered, kissing his forehead. Firefly's light dimmed to a small, steady glow, like a tiny star staying close. And Max drifted off to sleep, wings of dreams folded gently around him.
